ELTA Technology Co., Ltd. (8487, Emerging Stock Market) held a board meeting today, August 5, and approved its consolidated financial statements for the second quarter of 2026. Benefiting from the World Baseball Classic (WBC) in the first quarter and the global excitement surrounding the FIFA World Cup hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico in the second quarter, revenue across all of the company’s core business segments increased significantly compared with the same period last year.
For the first half of 2026, consolidated operating revenue reached NT$856 million, up 59.31% year over year. Net profit after tax totaled NT$87.481 million, representing annual growth of 63.69%, while earnings per share (EPS) reached NT$3.30, setting another record high for the corresponding period in the company’s history. The results demonstrate the strong growth momentum generated by major international sporting events, together with the multiplier effect created by the stable contribution of regular-season competitions.
In addition, the board finalized the company’s operating strategy for the next four years. ELTA will continue securing broadcast rights to top-tier international sporting events as part of its goal to build a sustainable long-term competitive moat.
In recent years, ELTA has pursued the operating objective of keeping the off-season active while making the peak season exceptionally strong. From February to March 2026, live broadcasts of the Milan Winter Olympics and the Crufts dog sports competition served as a “dual-engine” warm-up, followed by the first of the company’s “three arrows” for the year—the WBC, which began in March.
The tournament drove a strong start to the company’s first-quarter performance, with EPS reaching an impressive NT$2.58. At the same time, the number of subscribers to ELTA.tv, the company’s over-the-top (OTT) streaming platform, also reached a new record high.
Moving Toward More Diversified Distribution Channels to Better Reflect Actual Market Performance
On the other hand, due to factors including the timing of acquiring broadcasting rights for certain major sporting events, content partnership arrangements, and revisions to revenue-sharing mechanisms with external OTT platforms, revenue from some platform-related businesses has not fully reflected the growth benefits generated by the event content. Nevertheless, the company’s core sports content, subscription revenue, and membership base on its proprietary platform have continued to grow steadily overall.
In response to the rapidly evolving domestic market and platform ecosystem, ELTA began further refining its content and distribution strategies in the second quarter. The company will continue to sharpen the positioning of content across different platforms, while making the expansion of ELTA.tv’s subscriber base, enhancement of member value, and deeper user engagement key priorities for future growth.
At the same time, the company has confirmed that it will actively broaden its content distribution network. Selected sports properties, including badminton, table tennis, football, and Formula 1, will gradually be made available on more platforms, thereby expanding the market reach of its sports content and growing its audience base.
ELTA Overcomes Time-Zone Challenges to Deliver Strong World Cup Results
Looking back at the second quarter of 2026, ELTA’s performance was driven by the company’s “second arrow,” the FIFA World Cup jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Although the tournament schedule was widely expected to be disadvantaged by the time difference, subscriptions to ELTA’s self-operated ELTA.tv app still surpassed the level recorded during the WBC and reached a new all-time high. On MOD, the World Cup’s cumulative audience rating increased by 80% compared with the previous tournament—an especially noteworthy achievement.
Despite competition from a wide range of platforms and service packages, ELTA.tv’s subscriber base continued to expand. This indicates that, beyond price, consumers also place significant value on the exclusivity and completeness of sports content, broadcast quality, and overall platform user experience.
Although this year’s World Cup involved higher rights acquisition, production, and broadcasting costs, as well as the inherent disadvantage of unfavorable match times, ELTA’s long-term investment in live coverage, program production, and event promotion successfully generated strong market attention. It also helped drive sports lottery sales during the tournament to levels above those recorded in previous editions.
Overall viewership also improved from the previous World Cup, contributing to broader platform reach and stronger brand benefits. In terms of content licensing, ELTA adopted a differentiated distribution strategy tailored to the characteristics of each platform, balancing content value, market coverage, and overall operating returns.
Based solely on the tournament’s 39-day run, this year’s World Cup generated a modest profit. More importantly, however, it also expanded ELTA’s OTT subscriber base, strengthened brand influence, and created a larger membership pool and stronger traffic momentum for future international sporting events.
ELTA Unveils Three Key Goals under VISION 2030 to Build a Stronger Competitive Moat
Looking ahead to the second half of 2026, ELTA will continue to capitalize on the operating synergies generated by major international sporting events as its “third arrow,” the Asian Games, takes center stage. Through the continued growth of its proprietary OTT platform, a diversified distribution strategy, and enhanced content value, the company aims to deliver another record-high full-year performance.
ELTA also remains optimistic about the industry’s long-term outlook and will continue to focus on sports broadcasting and premium drama content as the core pillars of its business. The board of directors has formally endorsed the company’s “VISION 2030,” which comprises the following objectives:
1.Secure and negotiate licensing rights for major international sporting events through 2030, including exclusive agency rights for UEFA EURO 2028, which have already been obtained, as well as the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, the 2030 FIFA World Cup, and the 2030 Asian Games.
2.Develop growth strategies for platform distribution and digital advertising.
3.Implement marketing strategies to encourage and support the conversion of users into paid subscribers.
These initiatives and other strategic goals are designed to expand ELTA’s operating scale, continue leveraging innovative technologies to make sports viewing more engaging, and ultimately build a sustainable competitive moat for the company.
